About Ltd Edition

Ltd Edition is a live picture of Britain's companies: every incorporation and dissolution at Companies House, replayed on a map about fifteen minutes behind reality, with the league tables, trends and town pages that fall out of the full register.

Where the data comes from

• Companies House: the monthly Free Company Data snapshot (5.7 million live companies) and the public data API for daily changes and company details. Free to reuse under the Open Government Licence.
• ONS Postcode Directory: turns registered-office postcodes into map positions and local authority areas.
• OpenStreetMap via Protomaps: the basemap.

Things to know

• A registered office is a legal address, not necessarily where a business trades. We say "registered in", never "based in".
• Formation agents register thousands of companies at one address. Those companies are counted but never plotted at the agent's address, and they're left out of town rankings.
• Positions are postcode centroids, accurate to a street or so.
• Dissolutions come from the live feed, so history builds from the day we started watching.

Privacy, corrections and takedowns

Company data on this site is public register data. Officer and PSC information is personal data under UK GDPR; we fetch it from Companies House on demand, show it only to signed-in users, as published, cache it briefly, and never build profiles or rankings of individuals. It never appears on the public map, digests or share images.

If something about you or your company is wrong, or you'd like officer information removed from this site, email hello@ltdedition.co.uk with the company number. Changes to the register itself must go through Companies House.
